Slime

You’ll need:

1 bottle of Elmer’s glue (the white kind makes an opaque slime and the clear-blue kind makes a more translucent slime – which is preferred by most of us!)

small amount of Borax* (about 2 Tablespoons)

2 Medium bowls

small Ziploc bags, freezer ones are stronger (more leak-proof)

1. Empty the glue into the bowl. Fill the empty glue bottle 2 times with water, shake it to help rinse out the glue, and pour over the glue. (To make a softer, gooier slime, fill the glue bottle once more – but only about half – and add it to the bowl.) Stir the glue water mixture until the streaks all disappear.
2. Put the borax into the other bowl, add about a cup of water, and stir (using a clean spoon). Stop stirring for a little bit and look at the bottom – if you see some bits of borax, add in a small amount of water and stir. Keep adding small amounts of water until borax all ‘goes away’.
3. Scoop out some of the glue-water mix and put into a zipper bag. Pour a small amount of the borax-water into the bag, and mix the two together. Check the sliminess. If it’s too thin, add more of the borax –water. It’s done when you like what you have!
4. I recommend always storing it in the bag. The bag keeps the slime from drying out, and I don’t want to find out what happens if it sinks into a carpet or a wooden table!
